This project began as an initiative to improve my SEO skills, focusing on a sector with little competition in Puerto Rico: plumbers. The Infoplomeros website offers a detailed directory of plumbers in every town across the country, allowing users to quickly and efficiently find local solutions. My initial goal was to rank the site as a learning experience, but I am now considering monetizing it through a Rank and Rent model.
To develop the project, I implemented local SEO strategies, including keyword research (primarily using SEMrush and Google’s Keyword Planner), competitor analysis, and creating high-quality automated content supported by artificial intelligence. These efforts helped the site dominate the sector, reaching the Top 5 in organic searches for relevant terms in Puerto Rico. Currently, it averages 20 daily visits, which I find significant given the market’s limited size and the prevalence of search intents resolved by SEM.
In the long term, my vision is to use this project not only to refine my skills as an SEO specialist but also to explore lead generation and monetization through the Rank and Rent model. By improving existing content and expanding the guides, I aim to increase traffic and enhance the website’s value for local users.
This project has been more than just a learning tool—it has served as a platform to apply advanced SEO strategies and gain deeper insights into local market behavior in Puerto Rico. Its connection to my professional development lies in how it has allowed me to tackle real challenges, such as low traffic and high local competition, improving both my technical and strategic skills in the process.
